"Well here they are, a very hot and select group", wrote the world-renowned trombonist, Bill Allred in his liner notes to Home, the first CD released by the Swamp Dog Jazz Band (SDJB), followed by the second CD, Keepin' Out Of Mischief Now. Formed in 1997, the group soon earned the attention of jazz music lovers and major festivals around the country. The group has kept their signature sound but has headed in a new direction with a new name and two new personnel to fit their style, JB SCOTT'S SWINGIN' ALLSTARS! Still led by flamboyant, virtuoso trumpeter JB Scott (former Dukes of Dixieland group leader), these high-level pros are dedicated to playing Traditional jazz in an entertaining, energetic, high-spirited fashion. The featured vocalist is Lisa Kelly, well known for her pleasingly rich smooth tone, impeccable pitch, and swinging delivery of lyric Also key to the group is the unique story telling vocal style of versatile banjo/guitarist Ken Calhoun. Rounding out the group are respected musicians, the legendary trombonist Dave Steinmeyer (of Air Men of Note fame), virtuoso clarinetist Jim Snyder (formally with the Dukes of Dixieland), bassist Rick Ravelo (swings as hard as they come), and drummer Eric Mason (a grooving, swinging, tasty player). This ‘Allstar’ group has broadened its musical versatility to include well-penned arrangements of the classics from the 1920's to present, as well as original material; from the style of Louis' Hot 7, Trad Jazz, Dixieswing, and a bit of Big Band. If you like Louis Armstrong, Clark Terry, Ruby Braff, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O'Day, Diana Krall, Boots Randolph, Kenny Davern, Harold Cooper and more-if you like a highly musical group packed with personality, to listen to, to dance to, you'll really like JB SCOTT'S SWINGIN' ALLSTARS!
